On May 20th, DonorsChoose.org founder and CEO Charles Best and CTO & Head of Product Oliver Hurst-Hiller were thrilled to be invited to speak to the employees of LinkedIn at their monthly company-wide event, InDay, where one Friday a month is reserved for employees to think creatively and focus on investing in themselves and their community. The theme for the month of May was “Connections Changing the World” and before presenting, Charles and Oliver were given a personal and moving introduction by LinkedIn’s CEO Jeff Weiner, who is a member of the DonorsChoose.org Board. Charles and Oliver gave a presentation on DonorsChoose.org, discussing its origins, its mission and goals, and how people can get involved and make a difference in a classroom from their neighborhood or across the country.
Charles and Oliver also spoke about the Hacking Education contest, where developers and data crunchers have the chance to make discoveries and build apps that improve education in America. One winner will be chosen from seven different categories, and an overall winner will receive a trophy from Stephen Colbert and attend a taping of The Colbert Report with three friends.
Please take a few minutes to check out the great video of their InDay presentation, as well as the Hacking Education contest.
